At the age of 21, Rebecca is already in her fifth year at Devinci, which will be her last in the elite senior category. Rebecca is always ready for the next challenge and her will to win is what helps her persevere in mountain biking. Even though she had modest beginnings, she stays motivated and her coach Jude Dufour has helped her gain recognition over the years. In her first season with the elite racers, a third place finish at the Canadian Open allowed her to take part in four sections of the World Cup and in the Canada Games in PEI where she had a strong showing. In 2011, she finished third in the Canadian championship and also participated in the U23 World Championships. In 2011, she burst onto the scene: she finished five minutes behind the winner at the Windham event of the World Cup and was runner-up at the Canada’s Nationals U23. Unfortunately, she suffered a concussion 6 days before the World Championship and never took part in the event. Still on the path to recovery, she’s hoping to get back to training in the near future and make her mark on the Quebec and Canada Cup circuit.
With organization and dedication, she has made many sacrifices in order to graduate with a degree in natural sciences from CEGEP Alma in two years, and complete three years of university while training for her mountain bike competitions. She is currently studying mechanical engineering at École polytechnique de Montréal while continuing to train.
