Smith 4th on WC #5 UCI | Windham, NY- Devinci Global Racing’s Steve Smith has brought home his second podium finish of the season at round 5 of the UCI World Cup in Windham, New York. Steve finished the day with an impressive 4th place finish; teammate George Brannigan had a tough day finishing off the pace with a crash.

Windham’s DH track known for its speeds and rough terrain did not disappoint again this year. After Friday’s rain delay due to lightning, the lift re-opened and the top ten was again filled with the new generation of young riders. After the field was cut to the top 80, Smith sat in 7th and teammate Brannigan in 40th.

Weather through the week became warmer and drier as Sunday neared increasing the course’s speed. Andrew Neethling of South Africa set the first podium worthy time, he didn’t have much time to get comfortable as 2 of the next 3 riders would finish on the podium. After all of the riders made their way down the track Smith ended in 4th, marking his second 4th place finish of the season, and retaining his 5th overall World Cup ranking.

“The track was fast, I made a few little mistakes and didn’t think it would be enough to finish on the podium. The track was great and I am stoked with the result. » - Steve Smith

“Steve has had an amazingly consistent season, this is another great result. Things are really tight in the standings; there is a lot that can happen with only 2 more rounds left. Hopefully he carries the momentum into next week.” - Gabe Fox Marketing Manager Cycles Devinci
