Ekoï conquer the podium three times | After battling hard throughout the Tour du Québec, the team Ekoï-Gaspésien landed on the podium twice during the Tour. Emile Jean finished in third on the second stage and Amos-native Pierrick Naud finished third during Sunday’s criterium race.

Naud crossed the finish line of the 68.4 km criterium with a time of 1 hour 36 minutes and 20 seconds, 1 minute and 25 seconds behind winner Bruno Langlois (Garneau-Québécor).

“I went on a breakaway during the first laps but it didn’t work out. But once the pack caught up to me, I broke away again with Hugo Houle (SpiderTech) and we finished together behind Bruno Langlois. I’m happy with the way I raced. I still had great legs over the weekend”, said Pierrick Naud. He finished 7th overall, 3 minutes and 37 seconds behind the big winner Hugo Houle. During the first stage he finished in 4th place, but was relegated to 6th place after bonuses.

Good Tour for Deshaies

For his part, Jean-Samuel Deshaies took 62nd place during the last stage, crossing the line 3 minutes and 1 second behind the winner. He was 24th overall at 5 minutes and 22 seconds, and finished 4th twice during the first two stages of the Tour.

«I feel I had a pretty good tour. I had good legs and was often in the head pack » underlined the Amos-native.

Tougher times for Brochu

Jordan Brochu finished 15th, crossing the line with the pack during the 5th stage, only 1 minute and 55 seconds behind. He ended up 12th overall, falling 4 minutes and 22 seconds off Houle’s pace.
«Things didn’t go so well for the whole Tour. I was expecting it since I had taken time to rest. Still, today things worked out pretty well for me. I felt I was back in shape», said the rider who had a jaw-dropping performance in winning the sprint challenge at the beginning of the tour, an event that didn’t count in the overall rankings.

The three riders from Amos will be racing in the Mardis cyclistes de Lachine before traveling Wednesday to Illinois where they will be taking part in the Elk Grove Tour from August 3 to 5.
