Brutal course, amazing performance | VAL DI SOLE, ITALY—Devinci Global Racing recently grappled a stacked lineup of steeps, technical terrain, and mach speeds, rocketing three riders into the top 20 during round No. 2 of the UCI World Cup season.
Home to a rider-favorite World Cup course, Val Di Sole did not disappoint. Track conditions were bone dry, creating a rough and fast ride. Saturday’s qualifier saw all four DGR riders secure spots for Sunday’s main event. Steve Smith had an off during practice and opted out of Saturday’s qualifying, but as a top-10 rider he was able to start in Sunday’s final. Teammates George Brannigan and Nick Beer finished 16th and 18th respectively. First year Jr. Rider, Gianluca Vernassa, rode to an impressive 32nd qualifier in his home country.

Sunday’s main event saw DGR riders span the top-20 field. Smith finished tenth despite riding injured. Brannigan scorched to a career best 16th place, and teammate Nick Beer muscled into 18th by the end of the day.

“The team racked some solid results from Italy,” said DGR Team Manager, Gabe Fox. “It’s encouraging to see all the riders up there. Although it was disappointing for Steve to ride at less than full potential on a track he enjoys. But that’s racing.”

Next up for Devinci Global is Fort William, Scotland, and round No. 3 of the UCI World Cup. Following the UK, it’s home to North America for back-to-back World Cup events at Mont St. Anne, Quebec, and Windham, New York, in June.

Devinci Global Racing is proudly supported by: Cycles Devinci, SRAM, RockShox, Avid, Truvativ, Easton Wheels, Schwalbe, E-Thirteen, ODI, Selle Italia, and Fox Head Clothing.
